At 22, Joe made a spec Tesla short that Elon Musk discovered online and shared on Tesla's homepage. This jumpstarted Joe's career into commercial and short form content that led to directing projects for top brands such as Apple, NASA, Disney, Nike, Google, Amazon, LEGO, Blizzard, and Warner Bros. Games.

In 2016, he was approached by Apple Music and NASA to conceptualize and direct a cinematic short documentary featuring NASA'S Juno Mission, where he worked closely with SwRI Director of the Space Science and Engineering Division and Juno Principal Investigator Scott Bolton as well as the late visionary scientist Eric de Jong to explore the evident relationship between art, music and science. The film was then scored by Oscar-winning composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (The Social Network, Watchmen, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo).

At 25, Joe directed his first feature film, "Stray", starring Karen Fukuhara (The Boys, Suicide Squad) and Miyavi (Unbroken), and in 2020, Joe directed a cyberpunk sci-fi proof of concept, Autonomous, that drew the attention of Jon Berg (Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Doctor Sleep) and Greg Silverman (The Dark Knight, Dunkirk, Gravity) of Stampede Pictures who developed it as a series.

In 2020, Joe founded Impossible Objects, a virtual production company helping to define the future of film and entertainment by embracing next-generation real time processes such as game engines and LED volume stages to streamline content production. The company has established key relationships and partnerships in the space between film, gaming and technology, and has built and innovated projects and workflows with a growing list of clients such as Blizzard, Google Play, Western Digital, Honda, and Toyota.

The team at Impossible Objects is currently producing a film directed by Harald Kloser (2012, The Day After Tomorrow, 10,000 B.C.), utilizing the best of virtual production tools to demonstrate a case study for the future of independent filmmaking. They are also developing an independent feature film, "The Cloud Racer", that Joe directed a proof of concept for, combining the worlds of Top Gun and Star Wars to deliver a new experience of race film and science fiction escapism.

IO is also building out a roster of filmmakers who will specifically work in virtual production to pioneer new stories, choosing creatives who have a knack for cinematic storytelling but also have the technical mindset to adopt new toolsets.
